Our client are a leading top tier Investment Bank that are continuing to expand across the globe. They urgently require an Application Architect.

Purpose

  • Having a good understanding of the business objectives of Application Delivery and playing an active and positive role in implementing them.
  • Providing leadership for a team of senior designers working across a number of simple, moderate or complex projects, providing role model leadership for the team, providing expert content guidance, driving good governance, and ensuring the development of capability.
  • Leading the creation of detailed implementation level architectures for use within  Application Delivery.
  • Collaborating with staff in Franchise Development during the definition of complex solutions, and during the subsequent delivery of the solution in Application Delivery, providing expert subject matter input and guidance.
  • Contributing to the creation of architectures at a strategic level
  • Maintaining and demonstrating a deep and wide knowledge of the IT industry, having deep knowledge of either multiple technologies/systems/business operations, or being regarded as an expert in a particular subject area.

Responsibilities

  • Leading a team of senior designers (who may be working on one or many projects of varying complexity), undertaking the following activities, maintaining overall accountability for the work of the team in terms of quality and timeliness of delivery
  • Identifying, owning and resolving major design related issues which are escalated during the lifetime of the product.
  • Ensuring that implementation level architectures are adhered to by suppliers.
  • Maintaining effective communication with Channels team and Franchise Development during the lifetime of the product for which they are responsible to ensure that the integrity of the design process is maintained.
  • Assisting with the creation, monitoring and reporting of progress against programme/portfolio plans and identifies corrective action where necessary.
  • Providing input into risk analyses and development plans to take account of design decisions.
  • Assisting the programme/portfolio manager in understanding the status of the activities being undertaken by any suppliers to the project, and identifying delivery progress threats.
  • Providing expert support to suppliers in terms of Barclays architectures, systems, business operations, etc

Skills/Knowledge

  • Highly proficient in tools, techniques and services relevant to their knowledge area, with a broad awareness of those used throughout other areas, whilst maintaining a key interest in emerging developments in the marketplace.
  • Must have a detailed understanding of the information technology services provided
  • Will be fully up-to-date with the leading-edge developments/future trends in information technology.
  • A formal qualification in their area of specialism with considerable experience.
  • Must have experience of working in an IT project environment and an understanding of IT and business strategies, proven experience in a managerial capacity or specialist IT field. 
  • Must have professional competency in a technical specialism, i.e. technical systems design
