Position Summary
The Vice President of Tax is responsible for all domestic and international tax planning and compliance activities for the company (including M&A). The VP of Tax will be based out of the company's Princeton, NJ campus and will report to News Corporation's EVP of Global Tax (or designee) and will have a dotted line relationship with the company's controller.
Key Responsibilities
*Develop overall tax minimization strategy, establish tax cost reduction goals and develop and execute plans for achievement. *Participate in strategic and operational planning processes and provide executive management with clear and timely options to optimize the tax cost of business decisions. *Ensure compliance (Federal, state, local, and international) with all applicable tax laws and regulations *Direct the preparation of all tax filings (domestic and international) and all related support, such as transfer pricing studies. *Lead and/or oversee negotiations with domestic and international tax authorities. *Direct tax accounting (FAS109) and the assessment of the adequacy of tax reserves (FIN 48) and tax valuation allowances *Manage Sarbanes Oxley compliance and serve as process owner for all tax functions. *Lead team of tax professionals *Continually improve the Company's tax management processes
Position Requirements Key Selection Criteria
*Seasoned tax leader with fifteen-plus years of progressive experience working in the corporate tax function of a large multi-national, multi-entity company or significant international and domestic experience working in a "Big 4" firm. *Strong technical tax skills and knowledge of U.S. GAAP. *Proven dispute management track record (U.S. and International) *B.S. in Accounting (or equivalent) and C.P.A.; Masters in taxation desirable. *M&A experience. *Excellent written, oral and presentation skills. *Publishing or media industry experience preferred
