The firm has been a first mover or early entrant across the globe, having invested in 43 countries. Today, they manage over $9 billion in assets in four sectors: loan portfolios, real estate, corporate credit and special opportunities. They partner with a network of external Asset Managers to manage these assets. This position will deliver analytical support to the pricing and work-out of primarily real estate transactions in the UK, Spain and other geographies as required. This position will work closely with the director to provide analysis to appraise new opportunities and present them for internal approval. The position will also work with external partners in this appraisal process and subsequent project performance monitoring.

Role

Provide analytical support to the UK / Spain real estate investing activity. Build models capable of identifying key variables and assumptions and performing sensitivity analyses. Explain these models to partners where needed and to work with them to refine and develop the analysis. Make recommendations on pricing and incentive fee structures. Provide independent support for assumptions used and work with partners to agree information. Support review of third party due diligence exercises. Take responsibility for producing investment memoranda for formal approval. Assist in the execution and closing of transactions, and liaise with internal account/control functions to ensure appropriate funding of assets. Monitor, in collaboration with external partners, the performance of assets. To provide portfolio level analysis for internal use. To develop relationships with outside market participants (brokers, analysts etc) to monitor market situations and trends in regions of prime responsibility.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES (% time - scope of work)

35% - Produce investment appraisals (including sensitivity analysis) using DCF techniques and present pricing recommendations to the Director

20% - Tracking exiting deals, assessing deal and asset manager performance against budget, working with partners to ensure full understanding of modelling approach, results etc, working with investment co-ordinator to ensure data consistency and accuracy

10% - Develop working relationship with external partners, adding value to them

10% - Data gathering (general market and deal specific) to support assumptions and analysis

10% - Initial appraisal with partners, commercial discussions on merits of deals, making recommendations to Director.

10% - Produce documentation for Investment Committee approval

5% - Research the availability of external data sources and develop relationships with external market researchers

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

Required

  • Degree, with at least 2 years analytical experience in an investment bank, private equity firm or similar
  • Fluent English
  • Outstanding ability to undertake and explain complex investment appraisal analysis in Excel, combined with good commercial and business judgement.
  • Team player with the capacity to work to a demanding schedule and accept responsibility
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Experience and understanding of real estate market

Ideals

  • Experience of working in a similar role in UK property company, investor or agency
  • Fluent Spanish
  • Good knowledge of one or more other European languages
  • MBA or accounting and corporate finance experience and understanding
