Core role: The Principal / Senior Banker will be responsible for making a significant contribution to the development, execution and management of the Power and Energy Team's portfolio. This is a strong transaction-orientated role. The Principal / Senior Banker will play a leading role in originating, structuring and closing transactions using the full range of financing structures and instruments available to the Bank, establishing high level sector contacts, conducting policy dialogue on sector issues with senior Government authorities and regulators as well as monitoring and managing the loans and investments.

Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
? Originate and execute new transactions, monitor existing projects and proactively engage in their oversight. ? In any given project, to be fully capable of working throughout the whole project life cycle. This will be accomplished through developing contacts in the sector with Government authorities, regulators, local utilities, and with local and international sponsors. The cycle includes: project screening, due diligence, structuring, negotiation, preparation of documentation, monitoring and disposal (if applicable) of projects in line with the approved Country and Sector Strategies. The subsequent monitoring of projects is also an integral part of the responsibilities. ? Responsibility to make and maintain high level relationships within the electricity sector and the gas distribution sector (including government and quasi-government departments).? Will be requested to provide input on sector issues and lead policy dialogue concerning the power, and gas distribution sectors.? Expected to guide and direct less experienced staff working on a transaction, and become fully involved in the detailed processing work, as and when required. An important component of the job will be to train and coach junior bankers within the operation teams? Required to liaise with all Teams in the Energy Group, and the Country Teams to help develop projects including power, renewables and energy efficiency.

Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications
? Minimum of 7 years of investment bank/project finance experience for Principal level (10-12 years experience for Senior level) in a major international financial institution or merchant/investment or commercial bank where he/she will have acquired high-level banking/transaction skills and demonstrable expertise in project finance.? A proven track record of project delivery.? Advanced financial skills with good knowledge of either US GAAP or IFRS accounting.? Sound level of banking/lending skills with a strong credit background and demonstrable competence in structuring and executing transactions.? Knowledge and experience of the energy sector, in particular the power sector.? Demonstrated capability to put together, lead and motivate, transaction-specific project-teams comprising bankers drawn from the London and/or the Bank's Resident Offices.? Experience in emerging markets, including the Bank's countries of operations, especially in South East Europe and/or Central Asia would be a commendable advantage ? Very good written and oral communication skills in English are required.
