AHL has a long history of profitably trading the global financial and commodity markets using model-based purely systematic approaches and currently manages investments of over US$20B. The department undertakes a diverse range of activities including model-based prediction, portfolio construction, risk management and trade execution analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the smooth operation of AHL trading systems through utilisation of in-house software applications.
  • Input and check quality assurance of market prices
  • Check the integrity of system generated trades
  • Frequent implementation of database and file parameter changes
  • General system maintenance using change management procedures
  • Accurate record keeping for compliance and audit controls
  • Test software upgrades and new applications on the trading system
  • Close interaction with traders to ensure timely and accurate execution of trades
  • Regular liaison with Research, Information Technology and Software Development teams
  • Develop a detailed understanding of AHL trading systems
  • Work on a shift basis in a 24 hour work environment

Requirements

  • Demonstrable programming and scripting skills in SQL/UNIX and general IT competency
  • A minimum of a 2:1 degree or high achievement at A Level
  • Good understanding of financial instruments and how they are traded
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • A flexible approach with the ability to prioritise as appropriate
  • Able to multi task
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • A meticulously accurate approach to data entry and data checking
  • A problem solving attitude with a logical approach
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Able to give confident guidance and direction to traders in regard to system issues that may arise
  • A high degree of motivation, particularly when conducting repetitive tasks
  • Able to challenge the status quo and strive to improve current systems and procedures
