A prominant trading company based in the West End seek experienced Structured Trade and Commodity Finance executives with Portuguese or Russia language skills to originate and execute transactions in various commodities but with an emphasis on oil the oil sector.

A leading trading company wish to add to their already very successful STCF team. The main functions of this role will be to originate and execute structured trade finance transactions in various commodities and markets, mitigating risks including counterparty, political, legal, operational, etc and to advise on credit risk exposures across the deal portfolio.Portuguese to a high standard along with Spanish and French knowledge are a pre-requisite. Russian speakers are also highly desired. A detailed description is as follows:

• Performing a proactive business development function by reacting on a timely basis to requests from trading departments and developing new business opportunities from own contacts and network;

• Monitor the overall counterparty risk (performance, payment, political) position of the company in cooperation with the Credit Risk Management department and the Trade Finance department including the setting up and monitoring of insurance needs at group level;

• Provide consistent and systematic world coverage of key clients from a finance point of view;

• Serve as an intermediary between trading and credit for streamlining and easing the credit decisions process;

• Handle all aspects of structured trade finance including origination, structuring, syndication, documentation and risk participation.

• Structure complex long-term transactions, typically consisting of term oil and other commodity contracts backed by financial agreements underwritten by banking syndicates

• Install value in transactions that address the customer’s needs and differentiates the company from its competitors.

• Negotiate at senior level, including with government representatives or ministers

• Find ways to structure deals that achieve extended credit where questions of solvency arise

  • Distribute risk within the banking market

The candidate will need to have a detailed understanding of credit risk and documentation and have specialist financial skills and technical expertise with regards to commodity finance to be credible on the trading floor and in high-level negotiations. Project evaluation skills are desirable and the candidate should be an active and creative problem solver. Good judgment is imperative as is the ability to strike the right balance between caution and negativity when dealing with emerging market risks. You will need to deal well with complexity, defining central issues and establish what is material to a successful transaction. Numerically oriented with attention to details is essential.

The candidate must show drive and enthusiasm and be prepared to roll up there sleeves when required and want to work in a highly credible in a fast-paced trading environment.

Portuguese to a high standard along with Spanish and French knowledge are a pre-requisite. Russian speakers are also highly desired.
